300 Writing Prompts #7: Gift Giving

Write about the most recent gift you gave someone.

I have this friend. This really amazing friend. I’ve known for a long time now through the power of the interwebz! She is feisty at times. She is endearing at times. But most of all, she is just her and I adore her because she is her. She has a laugh that she hates but I think is rather radiant and lively and she has a sense of humor that makes you hesitant to eat or drink around her. But I still love her and I know she knows that!

Or by her legendary DJ name, Minxi Mayhem!

This intriguing entity is known as Izmeraldas. A very talented DJ and gamer extraordinaire!

Now over the course of the years that I have known her, I have plotted and schemed to give her something grand as a gift. I wanted to treat her to Star Wars when the Force Awakens hit theaters a few years back. She denied me. I figured that might had been a bit too much. But I was itching for an adventure. Memory is starting to fade with  old age, huh? Hush! Long story short, I attempted a lot of things that were shot down like the duck in Duck Hunt for the NES.

This year, I decided to go with a different approach.

My friend here was a big fan of the Tomb Raider series. In fact, we both are. I loved the rebooted Lara. I own all three games though I really haven’t had the time to sit down and enjoy the third one. So I figured that it would be a wonderful idea that get her the game through steam without her knowing so she couldn’t deny it or shoot it down.

The day finally arrives and I am able to gift the glory to her via Stream only for her to run into all sorts of issues with the game not completely loading on her computer. Stupid Square-Enix… thanks for ruining a good idea. Turns out that a lot of people were having issues with the game not booting up in various stages after downloading it. As a console player mostly, I did not have those issues.

After pouring through forums for a solution and coming up empty, we agreed to return the game and I went with my next choice. Monster Hunter: World! Why? I could play with her and she could experience the game with a partner in crime! Even though I already ran through the game on console, that game to me gives enough depth with the weapons and various situations you can find yourself in warrant purchasing the game again.  So I did!

Her character looks so cool!

Some unfortunate things happened and I ended up refunding my copy of the game. It did not appear at first she enjoyed the game due to the weapon she was using. I thought that might have been a deal breaker for this game too but she stuck it out and discovered the weapons she can lay the smack down with and once I purchase the game again, we will be off adventuring!

Do you plan on gifting a game to someone this holiday season or for someone’s birthday? If don’t have someone in mind, our birthday is after Christmas on the 26th if you need a potential candidate! Stop it! What game do you plan on getting them? I am thinking about getting Red Dead Redemption 2 just to see what all the hype is about.

As always, thanks for stopping by and reading. You guys and gals are awesome!

Until my next post… DO YOU SEE THAT HAMMER!?

The wind up is vicious!

We did mention that she was a DJ. Check out some of her music in the link below. This is our favorite set. We have been rocking to it since we started writing this post.

What a sweet thing to do! And wow, your birthday is on Boxing Day?

    1. Yep! I believe that is a UK holiday, right?

And a Canadian one! It’s really to compensate for our lack of Black Friday. XD

      2. Cool! I didn’t know you guys didn’t celebrate Black Friday! Odd, I neighbor you guys and it is so little that I know! I might have to interrogate you to see how live is different…

Haha, which part of the States do you live in? I live pretty close to the border (Vancouver), so I go down to Washington every once in a while. I hope I’m still in touch with what’s going on down there.

      4. I’m in Michigan so I’m quite a distance away from you but I still neighbor Canada as a whole.
