Would you like some orchestra with your iconic main them?
Life comes with all sorts of goodies. One of those treats for me is the Mission Impossible series. I have simply adored this series since the first one and have made it my personal mission to watch every one of them until Tom Cruise can no longer film them because of old age.
So imagine the glee I experience when I hopped on Youtube and this was the very first video on my feed…
Let me begin by saying that I have no idea how they can raise the stacks in this movie. Considering all the previous movies and the objectives that lived up to the name of “Mission Impossible”,
- The Helicopter chase that begins with Ethan climbing the rope all the way up to the helicopter first and then taking control of it just to pursue August. (Honorable mention to the Paris chase scene.) Two chase sequences in one movie!?
- The building climb performed in Ghost Protocol that had me on the edge of my seat.
- Rogue Nation’s set-piece that had Ethan climbing the side of Burj Khalifa, one of the tallest buildings in the world.
- Tee infamous wire scene from the OG Mission Impossible
- Among all the others! *Melts*
So my excitement was through the roof when I pushed the button, waiting to see what would be the next new WTF moment that they would grace us within this film and it did not disappoint. Was that a freaking base jump off a motorcycle into nothing but the ground beneath him?
I think I can stop gushing for a moment to give my thoughts on the trailer itself. I love all the familiar faces returning to the film. Especially the gorgeous Vanessa Kirby as Alanna Mitsopolis and the MAJOR addition of Hayley Atwell as a new character named Grace! (I’m not too sure about this one but if she is new, I’m thrilled to see her in this!)
Our first trailer doesn’t really give a lot in terms of plot but it definitely shows us the action will be top-notched and over the top. The gunbattle during a desert storm!? Epic car chase!? Tom Cruise running!?
It also reveals that this movie will be broken up into two parts? Maybe? I hope it isn’t three. But it could be three… What if this is the last of the franchise as a whole? I don’t know what I would do if we lost both James Bond AND Ethan Hunt in my lifetime. We don’t have any action stars to replace these iconic roles…
And no, I don’t care how popular the Fast and Furious franchise is, none of them compare to the aforementioned stars. (And I like the series overall.) Not even “family”.
Sadly, this version of the iconic theme is kinda lackluster. I love orchestra but I don’t think it quite fits with this trailer. It left me wanting more. It was going for this building crescendo during the trailer but didn’t quite reach what being showed in the trailer. The trailer is awesome but I can’t wait to see the second one and see in what unique way they spin that motif. (Or… I hope they release the full version of this song so we can hear it all and I might change my mind.)
I say that after being blessed with this in the last trailer. And yeah, I know it came from Imagine Dragons but tell me that song was epic with this trailer? I dare you!
Why does this movie have to come out in 2023!? That is too far away! What if I don’t make it? What if something happens? Why is this movie split into two parts!? That means I have to wait even longer to see it all through!
Do you think they showed any clips from the second movie in this trailer? They usually film movies like this all in one go.
What do you think? Are you as excited as I am? What is your favorite Mission Impossible? Better yet, what is your favorite stunt in the franchise? Let’s talk about it in the comments below?
Thanks for stopping by and reading my thoughts. You have no idea how much I appreciate it. Enjoy this treat here because I certainly did! ^_^
